PREVIOUS MATCH REPORTS
Sunday 1st May 2005 BOI END BARREN RUN WITH VETERANS WIN BOI finally won a game after a poor run of results after beating City Dart Veterans 6-3 at the Imperial. BOI started strongly with plently of possession between their makeshift team. The best chances came first from Forster who curled a free kick straight down the keepers throat, and Andy terrorising Darts down the left. It was a suprise for BOI to go in at half time a goal down then. A break down the BOI left left their striker with plenty or time to slot the ball past Meridith. BOI came out for the second half in a determined fashion and immediately were level. A long throw in from sub Jason found the head of Davis who flicked the ball into the top corner. It was no less than BOI deserved and it wasn't long before they were in front. Ross Williams picked the ball up on the right before knocking it inside to Forster. Adam knocked in in again for Bell who chipped a delightful ball over the top to find Williams whose initial shot was saved but he managed to head in the rebound. However BOI had flashbacks of BAWA when two poor referreeing decisions went agains them. In a 50-50 tussle inside the box - the CDV ref blew up for a penalty which was promptly dispatched. The minutes later a tap in which was clearly offside put Darts ahead 3-2. Jason made amends for the ref by driving a free kick past the keeper with the aid of a deflection. And the same player won BOI a penalty. A darting run into the box followed by a shot was clearly blocked by the hands of a Darts defender and the ref had no choice but to give a penalty against his own team. With Turner away, Forster took over the spot kick duties and cooly sent the keeper the wrong way and tucked the ball into the bottom right hand corner to put BOI in front 4-3. Andy capped a fine performance with another deflected goal while Forster had one hacked off the line after diverting Andys cross with a heel flick. BOI sealed their victory with a fine solo long range effort from Lee Marshment into the top corner. Team: Meridith, Coles, Tom, Darby, Morgan, Ross, Davis, Andy, Marshment, Forster, Bell Subs: Jason Sunday 24th April 2005 BOI LOSE AGAIN BOI lost to Athletico 2000 reserves 2-0 in Avonmouth. With Chomper playing up front for 90 minutes and no subs BOI tired late in the game conceding 2 lates goals while Forster missed a sitter. Sunday 17th April 2005 BOI LOSE AGAIN BOI suffered third and fourth straight defeats against Castle Court in a double fixture. Two fairly even games ended 3 - 0 on both occasions Sunday 10th April 2005 BOI IN SHOCK LOSS BOI suffered a shock defeat against bottom of the league Redfield Rangers, a day after Man United lost to bottom of the table Norwich. BOI went ahead in this match after only a few minutes. An inswinging Perrott corner ended up in the back of the net via a Redfield defender. BOI continued to push as another corner caused chaos in the box - where Phil Bell could only shoot at the keeper from two yards. BOI were the better team for 35 minutes then it all fell apart. A hopefull long ball out from defence found a Redfield striker in acres of space on the right hand side of the box and he blasted the ball past Meridith into the bottom corner. BOI continued to push and almost retook the lead when a slick passing move put Charlton through. The striker connected well with the ball and was unlucky to see the ball rebound off of the post. However it was to be the last contribution he made as a knee injury forced him off just before halftime. BOI started the second half strongly and retook the lead within five minutes of the restart. Another Perrott inswinger found the head of a Redfield defender and BOI were back in the lead. BOI enjoyed plenty of possession until with 15 to go they found themselves level. A freekcik on the half way line was launched long over the defence, where a Redfield striker hit the ball first -time over Meridith into the far top corner for a wonderful goal. Olympique began to pressure the Redfield goal again as Tom Perrott shot through a crowd of players and against the bar. But it was Redfield who eventually came out on top with 4 minutes left. As BOI were attacking - they were caught on the break as Redfield split the defence and BOI found themselves behind. In an act of despiration, Barlow threw on Chomper up front and the big man had BOI's last chances. Shooting well wide from the edge of the box and being involved in a goal mouth scramble at the death. Team: Meridith, Coles, Andrews, Darby, Morgan, Turner K, Davis, Perrott, Bell, Le PinPec, Charlton Subs: Stevens, Forster, Turner C Sunday 3rd April 2005 BOI CRASH OUT IN SEMI'S Olympique lost their Presidents cup semi final against Athletico 2000 'Reserves' 3 - 0 at Keynsham Towns Crown Fields. Davis had the luxury of a fully fit squad without long term injuries Dowling and Donaldson. and named his strongest line-up. Athletico had the better of the opening minutes but couldn't get a shot on goal dispite a succession of corners. The first real chance of the game fell to Davis. A curling cross from Turner found Barlow unmarked in the middle and the gaffer put a free header wide of the post. Then 2000 took the lead. A slick passing move through the BOI defence left their striker the simple task of stroking the ball past the advancing Thorne into the net. BOI rallied and finished the half the stronger of the two teams with plenty of possession and shots on goal from Perrott and Charlton. BOI started the second half unchanged and found themsleves under pressure again from Athletico, as Turner and Bell cleared off the line. Midway throught the second half, Davis withdrew the limping Bell for Sheephead and Le PinPec for Forster, with Turner completing a three pronged attack. Forster sent a shot sailing over the bar from a Charlton knock down before BOI found themselves two down. A break down the right lead to Athletico doubling their lead and BOI had a mountain to climb. Davis threw on Meridith for Andrews - who had suffered a broken boot - and he promptly got stuck into a challange - unfortunately it was with Barlow. BOI's nightmare game was completed when 2000 went three up. A break into the box found their striker clean through. Although his initial shot was saved brilliantly by Thorne, the ball cannoned of the strikers leg and just evaded Morgan as it rolled over the line. It was only through a superb save from Thorne that it wasn't 4 as he somehow clawed the ball away when it seemed destined for goal. As the final whistle went, BOI were consoled by the linesman who insisted they were unlucky as they didnt play 2000's reserve team and promised to look into the matter. As it stands BOI must concentrate on the league for the rest of the season. Team: Thorne, Coles, Andrews, Darby, Morgan, Turner, Davis, Perrott, Bell, Le PinPec, Charlton Subs: Stevens, Forster, Meridith Sunday 27th March 2005 BELL END'S ROVERS RESISTANCE Phil Bell scored a second half winner as Beaconsfield game BOI another tough match at the imperial ground. Wth another bare bones team, BOI and Rovers had equal shares of possession, but without either creating a clear cut chance in the first half. With Le Pin-pec turning up for the second half, BOI looked the more likely to score with the first real chance of the match falling to Phil Bell. Turner picked out Forsters run into the channel with a fine ball. The striker held the ball up before knocking it inside to Davis who squared it to Bell inside the six - yard box who connected... with fresh air. BOI had a few chances - with most falling to Jimmy Churchouse who had several long - range efforts, one of which seemed destined for the bottom corner until the keeper at full stretch put it behind for a corner. Beaconsfield enjoyed plenty of possession and forced a succession of corners put couldn't get a shot away with Simon Thorne controlling his area well. BOI found themselves ahead with 10 minutesto go. A Churchouse corner was headed out only into the path of Turner whose shot was deflected past the keeper by Phil Bell. It was one way traffic from then on with Rovers pushing for an equaliser and BOI going 4-5-1. With only minutes left on the clock BOI's defence was breached for the first time in the game and Rovers had a player through on goal, but Simon Thorne made one of the saves of the season so far to make sure BOI kept hold of the 3 points after another close game with Beaconsfield. Team: Thorne, Shelper, Andrews, Darby, Morgan, Turner, Davis, Churchouse, Bell, Forster, Charlton Sub: Le PinPec Not used: Turner C Sunday 20th March 2005 BOI FIGHT BACK TO CLAIM WIN BOI came back from a goal down to claim victory at Muller road on Sunday. With another depleted team, stand in manager Kev Turner was forced to make some changes putting Bulldog Andrews in a holding midfield role, returning Chomper in between the sticks, and giving Le Pinpec a free role. BOI were under pressure from the off as bottom team Muller road enjoyed plenty of possesion and came close with a rasping header that went just wide. The Olympique defence stood stong and weathered a storm of Muller Raod attacks including one scramble that saw Chomper make a save, and then Sam Coles clear the follow up off the line while another follow up went over. Suprisingly, against the run of play it was BOI who should have been one up. Kevin Turner played a ball through to Forster who let the ball run across the defender and was clean through on goal. Somehow the striker managed to put the ball wide of the far post, blaming the uneven surface for his miss. BOI began to assert their presence on the game enjoying plenty of possesion and Olivier driving a shot millimetres over the bar. The Frenchman should have scored when he found himself unmarked on the back post after good work from Matt Andrews, but his shot went just wide. Muller Road then forced a succession of corners which BOI defended resoulutely. The opening goal came on the stroke of half time when a cross came in from the Road right which the attacker somehow deflected over Chompers head and in. That was the last action of the half as Forster and Charlton kicked off the ref blew the whistle. Turner made one change at half time bringing off Forster for Simon and reverting to a conventional 4-4-2. BOI were level within minutes of the restart. Having won a corner, Turner drove the ball in and Le PinPec was on hand to smash the ball into the net. It was one way traffic for the second half with Charlton making some surging runs only to find himself hacked down time after time. BOI were in front for the first time midway through the second half. Phil Bell sent a looping cross into the box and from 18 yards and the most unlikely man on the pitch scored with his head. Yes Kevin Turner. After missing from ON THE GOAL LINE earlier in the season, the captain looped a header in over the keeper from 18 yards and went ballistic. Muller road began to push again and BOI reverted to some slowing down tactics. Muller road got through on goal late in the game but Andy Darby was clearly fouled as he tried to get back which the linesman (me) saw and BOI had a free kick. Le Pinpec had a chance at the death to seal it but put his shot just over. BOI were just worthy of the three points but Muller Road made a tough game of it. Team: Turner C, Morgan, Coles, Darby, Stevens, Turner K, Le Pin-Pec, Andrews, Bell, Forster, Charlton Sub: Simon Sunday 6th March 2005 BELL STRIKE NOT ENOUGH AS HOOPS LOSE BOI suffered defeat at the hands of rivals AMC United at Eastville Park. BOI were again playing with the bare 11 as they looked to go fourth in the table. With only five minutes on the clock, BOI debutant Lee Marshment was viciously cut down in the centre circle by a late challenge. BOI were forced to play with ten men as the midfielder tried to walk it off. BOI seemed to be getting the better of the opening exchanges when they suddenly went one down. A diagonal ball across the defence put an AMC striker clean through and he made no mistake as he slotted the ball past Meredith. BOI continued to push as Perrott saw a shot saved by the keepers feet and a succession of corners cleared to saftey. Out of the blue the Hoops found themselves two down. A high ball went into the BOI left corner and with Barlow urging Turner to see the ball out, the defender was robbed of the ball by AMC's left winger who cut the ball back for a simple tap-in. BOI suffered their second injury of the morning when Forster suffered a reoccurance of the thigh injury that has been plaugeing him for weeks after attempting a quick volley on the turn. With Olympique down to ten men for the second time in the game, they went three down. (sorry guys i didnt see it!) With Olympique still enjoying a moajority of possession they couldn't find a goal with Marshment sending a shot wide and Bell opting to pass to Barlow when in a good shooting position. Amazingly BOI could have been another two down then AMC hit both posts from a one on one and a scramble after a corner when it looked easier to score. Eventually AMC got their fourth when Matt Meredith saved an initial shot but the ball cannoned off the unfortunate Gaffer and into the back of the net. BOI trudged off at halftime 4 - 0 down. Determined to restore some pride, Olympique came out for the second half with all guns blazing. After good work down the left by Perrott, a trademark Turner longthrow brought a goal. As Turner launched the ball into the box, Forster made a run to the front post, taking the defender with him. As the ball sailed over their heads into the six yard box, there was Phil Bell who finished with a continental style back heel, flicked into the top corner. With the wind now firmly in their sails BOI pressed. They got a second midway through the second half. Another long throw in by Turner evaded everyone but AMC's big centrehalf who succeded in heading the ball into his own net. AMC had their chances, to add to the posts they hit in the first half they completed the set by hitting the cross bar. They also sent a shot wildly over when clean through. BOI sensed they could snatcha draw and came close when the keeper saved a Turner shot with his feet that was destined for the bottom corner, and Forster just failed to connect with a low Perrott cross. Perrott sent a spectacular volley straight at the keeper while Charlton sent another special volley just over the bar. After a brave performance, BOI just couldn't find the net again as AMC came out eventual winners Team: Meredith, Morgan, Davis, Darby, Turner, Bell, Le Pin-Pec, Marshment, Perrott, Forster, Charlton Sunday 27th February 2005 MATCH OFF - AGAIN BOI'S game away to Athletico 2000 Reserves was called off this week due to a frozen pitch. With team already met up for the journey - it was decided that we needed a training session. So while the more committed players had a 3 on 4 match in Greville Smyth Park, the rest of the team tucked into a fry up. BOI CLAIM POINTS FOR WEEKEND FIXTURE This weeks game versus the Wayfarer sports was called off late Friday evening. As Wayfarer did not have enough players to field a side, Olympique were awarded the match thus gaining 3 points and a 3 nil victory without having to kick a ball. BOI were offered the option of arranging a fixture with the only other team in Division one without a fixture but secretary Matt Andrews and club captain Kevin Turner decided not to arrange a game with next weeks opponents - The Baccy Jar. BOI now go into the game next week without having played a game for 3 weeks against a team beating most of the league now their suspension has been lifted. Sunday 16th January 2005 BOI FURY AT LATE POSTPONEMENT BOI's game this week became a victim to poor pitch conditions as Castle Court called the game off at the 11th hour. Captain Kevin Turner was irrate at the lateness of the decision which came at 9.20 with several of the BOI squad set to meet at 9.35. The matter was brought up Monday by Adam Forster in a phone call to Kevin Jones. BOI will not be awarded the points for this match and the fixture will be replayed at a later date.

BOI CRUSH HAPLESS UNITED
BOI faced bitter rivals AMC United this week at The Imperial Ground. With kick off delayed as fans favourite ref Stevie Martin failed to show, Olympique got in some much needed practice, with Manager Davis choosing to focus on crossing. Once the game began it immediately paid dividends and an inswinging corner was met with a bullet header from Dan Donaldson which flew into the top left corner for the centre back's first goal in 5 years. The big man couldn't hide his delight as he was mobbed by his team mates in the celebrations. BOI continued to press for a second goal and forced a succession of corners but to no avail. They also had shots from Tom Perrott and Nicky Charlton comfortably saved by the visiting goal keeper. AMC looked like they might get back into the game when a mad scramble occured in the Olympique 6 yard box, but Matt Meridith saved bravely at the strikers feet and the ball was cleared. The Hoops enjoyed most of the possession of the first half but coiuldn't force the second goal and went in at half time, a goal to the good. With the wind now at their backs BOI attacked from the outset in the second half with Simon Thorne twice going close with long range efforts and Tom Perrott having two corners cleared off the goalline. The vital second goal finally came 15 minutes into the second half. A long throw in by Turner was headed down into the path of Nicky Charlton by Adam Forster. As the ball bounced up off the surface the striker attempted a speculative overhead kick which fell kindly into the path of Tom Perrott who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper into the net. Barlow immediately made a double substitution - taking off captain Turner and injured Forster. Minutes later AMC had a goal back when Kenna smashed an unstoppable volley into the back of the net. Olympique never looked in danger of losing and their two goal lead was re-established when another long throw was flicked on in the box - this time by makeshift striker Davis - and Nicky Charlton guided the ball into the corner of the net with a controlled volley. It was all BOI now and they deservedly got a fourth when Charlton was sent clear and the little striker slotted it past the keeper to take him top of the BOI goalscoring charts. Mark Davis should have added a fifth as he was again sent clear and rounded to keeper only to put his shot into the side netting. Simon Thorne thought he had his second of the season in injury time as he put the ball in from a corner - only for the ref to rule it out for a push. Olympique walked away from this game with 3 points and deserved winners
